Phase 1


Consists of stating clearly to its participants the mission and purpose of Building Life Foundations Nonviolence Center. During an orientation course, an overview of Dr. King's philosophy and methodology is given within two to four hours. The orientation is designed to heighten the awareness of Kingian approaches to nonviolent social change. After the orientation workshop, participants now have enough information to decide if they want to continue.


Phase 2


Consists of presenting the institute's core curriculum which will introduce applied Kingian Nonviolence, including historical background; The Six Steps and Six Principles; Social dynamics of nonviolence; and King's legacy today. This core training takes place over a period of two days.


Phase 3


Consists of a training of trainers (T.O.T.) In this phase,  participants will find themselves learning the methodology of training people in nonviolence. The completion and certification of this phase of training consists of over 160 hours of training carried out in four modules. Participants will be eligible to assist Senior Trainers as Co-Trainers to take on training assignment in their community.


Staff Development, Executive Leadership Training for executives, and Youth Leadership Training is also available.


The Kingian Nonviolence philosophy provides the foundation for youth & adult leaders, to develop an understanding of the principles and methodology of Kingian Nonviolence and its universal application.  The training is supplemented by selected readings, videos, and experimental learning activities.
